ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A weekend event on the water has been canceled due to algae growth.
Organizers say Saturdays’ Albert Lea Floats has been called off. The event was supposed to take place from 10 am to 2 pm but was canceled due to harmful algae spotted on Fountain Lake. Health officials say all Minnesota lakes contain algae but some algae can become toxic, making people and pets sick.
